First and foremost, we designed this vest so that those large roosters can actually be loaded from the front quickly and easily! The front opening of the game pouch has a snap expansion that provides a huge 14+" opening for loading big birds.

Second, this vest was designed with the dog handler in mind. The Velcro transmitter pockets on the chest lay flat when empty, but expand to accommodate virtually every make and model of e-collar transmitter. The elastic restrainer loop is easily secured around the antenna of larger remotes to prevent them from falling out when you bend over. The mesh front on the pockets provides easier identification of transmitter buttons and D-rings next to the pockets provide attachment points for lanyards. In addition, two reinforced water bottle holders (with drain holes) means that you can carry enough water for you and your four legged friend.

Third, the "Trekker" upland vest gets its name because in addition to the dual water bottle holders, it also has a rear rucksack for carrying your first aid kit or your lunch, or for stowing those extra layers later in the day when things are warming up.

Fourth, like all shooting apparel that we produce, the Trekker vest has an inside pocket under each shooting pad that accepts the revolutionary ShockEater® recoil pad. So, now you can use those heavy high brass loads and not worry about bruising your shoulder in the process.

And if that's not enough, we also engineered in some other great features including magnetic pocket flaps, a zippered bottom on the shell pockets (for easy emptying and clean out), hand warmer pockets, internal accessories pockets, expandable rear game pouch and a zippered game pouch.

Finally, as with all products made by Peregrine Outdoor Products, this vest comes with a Lifetime Guarantee. So enjoy those long hikes through fields, briars, fence rows and thickets knowing that Peregrine has your back. Happy hunting.

Exactly the upland vest I was looking for!

Posted by Erik on Feb 5th 2019

This vest is actually better than I thought it would be in terms of construction and the design is superb. Great game bag. Pockets are well thought out, including e-collar transmitter and GPS pockets. I love the built in ruck sack. I am 6'1', 215 lbs and I ordered the XL, which leaves enough room to put a jacket or some layers under it for cold weather. I am very happy with this vest because the design and construction don't require me to compromise on any of the features I want from an upland vest, like so many other vests do. '

    Peregrine dog handler's vest

Very well designed, keeping track of your dog is very important but fumbling with the electronic control is not. This is the first vest I have found that has a secure place for the electronic control. The velcro shot shell holder is another nice touch. Great job.

Best hunting vest on the market

Posted by Jeff on Jan 3rd 2019

I have several hunting vests that I have accumulated over the years but none of them have what it takes to be the perfect vest for the dog handler. I fell in love with this vest the first time I put it on. My Garmin tracker fits perfectly in the the left chest pocket as does my e-collar in the right chest pocket. No more fumbling around to find the transmitter. The padded waist belt was a must for me and really helps my back while carrying several birds. I spent several days researching every vest I could find on the internet and came up with this one and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Reading the reviews I noticed that some of the folks who bought this vest said that it runs a bit small. I normally wear a medium (6ft-170) but I ordered a large and I'm glad I did. With a jacket on it fits perfectly .

Great service by Linda in customer service

Posted by David J. Carter on Nov 27th 2018

November, 2018, I purchased my Trekker Dog Handler Vest. I received it fine but when I tried it on, it was a bit too small. I called and talked to Linda in customer service. She right away got a new size vest on its way to me. No hassle, no problem. Gosh, you just don't find this great of service too much any longer. Thank you Linda!!

Peregrine Field Gear Trekker Dog Handler's Vest

Posted by Merrill Meese on Oct 13th 2018

Well I have had a chance to use the vest now for a season. I still like it even though it is almost twice what I have paid for other vests. It is made of high quality material that is durable and is suited to the heavy use i put it through. I like the design it has a lot of pockets all in the right places and they are easy to access. The shell pockets elastic shell holders are tight and do a good job of holding my 20 gauge shells in place. I like the water bottle holders on each side of the vest and they are big enough for a bigger sized water bottle. I really like two things about the shell pockets, they have magnets in the flap that comes down over the pocket to keep it closed and they have full zippers in the bottom that make it easy to clean the weed seeds, grass and other trash out of the pockets. The only con to this jacket is that that you have to make sure the zippers stay closed on the bottom of the shell pockets or if you have loose shells you will loose them. I check the zippers frequently when hunting and they are staying shut, I think that the one time I lost shells may have been because I forgot to zip them shut after cleaning. I would recommend this vest even at this price. I could see it lasting 5 or 6 seasons easy and I hunt more than the average hunter.

Too heavy but lots of practical features

Posted by JED on Mar 26th 2018

Vest is very weighty. Made of durable but heavy materials so with lots of features and multiple layers of fabric the result is a vest that you won’t wear on mild or warm hunting days. Also, size, especially girth, is not adjustable. That limits thickness of layers you can wear under vest. Last criticism is the nice metal two way zipper on the vest I received is extremely difficult to start. I couldn’t get it to work even after several applications of zipper wax. It finally started after much fidgeting and I considered a return but decided against it. I hope annoying, balky zipper, especially with cold hands or gloves, won’t discourage my use of this otherwise very well constructed and heavy duty upland vest.
